A really comfortable pair of pants to wear during the warm (and sometimes hot and humid) summer months is drawstring linen pants.

Artists want their paintings to be around for a long time. In the past, linen was also used for books. And believe it or not it was also used for shields in the Middle Ages (again, due to its strength).
